NPS = % promoters − % detractors. Above 0 is good, above 50 is excellent, above 70 is world-class.
What is NPS?
Net Promoter Score (NPS) measures customer loyalty on a −100 to +100 scale. It comes from one survey question — “How likely are you to recommend us to a friend or colleague?” answered 0 to 10 — and sorts the answers into promoters, passives, and detractors.
How to read your result
- Promoters (9–10) are loyal enthusiasts who drive growth through referrals.
- Passives (7–8) are satisfied but unenthusiastic and easily won over by competitors.
- Detractors (0–6) are unhappy customers who can slow growth through negative word of mouth.
- Above 0 is good, above 50 is excellent, and above 70 is world-class.
Frequently asked questions
Any score above 0 means you have more promoters than detractors. Above 50 is considered excellent and above 70 is world-class, though healthy benchmarks vary by industry.
Subtract the percentage of detractors (0–6) from the percentage of promoters (9–10). Passives (7–8) count toward the total but not the score itself.
